When describing Sonny Mac and what she does, her name and title say it best. With the ability to light up the room with just the sound of her voice, a laugh that is contagious and the attitude of a native New Yorker, Sonny brings a unique personality to the air waves that makes her hard to forget and easy to listen to.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Catskill, NY, Sonny Mac is the product of her mother, the model, dancer and lover of the arts and her father, who earned the accomplished titles of DJ, photographer and newspaper owner before he passed away. Passing on his entrepreneurial spirit to his young daughter, Sonny decided to pursue radio after hearing a college radio station and the poorly run show. With no experience in radio, but a passion for music and the determination necessary, she went to the station asking for the DJ job, confident she could do better. She was turned down every day for 2 weeks straight, but refusing to take no for an answer or ignore her calling, she never lost sight of her goal and her perseverance paid off. She was hired at 88.3 and her career in radio began.

After doing college radio for a year, learning the ropes along the way, she was officially picked up by a commercial station and since then, has continued on her path to success working for stations such as 96.3KISS FM and 96.1 KISS FM in NY, 104.5 KTOY/107FYX in TX, and her current station, 105.3KJMM in Tulsa, OK.

She continues to follow the path that radio has chosen for her. Never satisfied with mediocrity, she’s always searching for a new and fresh approach. Covering a variety of time slots, from mornings to middays, Sonny’s ability to adapt to any format speaks to her personality, both on and off the air. With drive and ambition like this and her ability to achieve her goals and set the bar higher than before, Sonny Mac is a name you won’t soon forget.
